Download Threads videos
Quick answer
Threads (Meta's text-and-video app) serves public videos as MP4 files, and public posts can be saved with a browser-based resolver — the Threads app itself offers no save option. Copy the post link via the share menu (a threads.net/username/post/ID address), paste it into XDownload, and download; the file lands in Downloads — or Files on iPhone — at the quality Threads serves. The resolver runs entirely in the browser with no app or login, and covers 6 other platforms including X and Instagram in the same tool. Private Threads accounts are the hard limit: their posts are invisible to logged-out visitors, so no tool can fetch them. The most common failures are truncated links from in-app browsers and cross-posted content whose media lives on the Instagram side.
Resolve any public post at xdownload.top — free, no app or account needed.
Threads has become a regular home for short video — commentary, clips, news moments — but like X, it offers no built-in save button. A browser resolver handles it the same way it handles other platforms: derive the media URL from the public post link, hand back the MP4.
Download steps
- Open the Threads post containing the video.
- Tap the Share icon and choose Copy link. The address looks like threads.net/username/post/ID.
- Open xdownload.top in a browser.
- Paste the link and resolve. The tool fetches the MP4 Threads serves for that post.
- Download. iPhone users: the file arrives in Files — use the share sheet to move it to Photos.
What resolves and what does not
- Public profile posts: the main case — resolve normally.
- Private accounts: Threads does not serve their posts logged-out, so resolution is impossible by design. This protects creators who chose a limited audience.
- Cross-posts from Instagram: a Threads post that is really an Instagram reel may resolve to the IG media or fail; if it fails, open the same content's Instagram post and resolve there — XDownload handles Instagram in the same tool.
- Deleted or limited posts: gone is gone; check the post still plays logged-out first.
Two failures worth knowing in advance
Truncated links: sharing from some in-app browsers or messaging apps cuts the URL at the post ID. A resolver can only work with a complete /post/ID address — re-copy from the share menu if a paste fails.
Region-limited content: a small subset of posts is restricted by region. If the post will not load for you logged-out, it will not resolve for any tool either.
Why the file is a clean MP4
Threads transcodes uploads to standardized MP4, and the resolver returns that stored file — no watermark overlay gets added by Threads or by the tool, and no screen recording quality loss occurs. What you save is what plays.
