Download Pinterest video pins
Quick answer
Pinterest video pins download as MP4 files when you resolve the pin's underlying media instead of screen-recording the app preview. Every public pin has a media URL on Pinterest's CDN; a resolver looks it up from the pin link (pinterest.com/.../pin/ID) and returns the file at the quality Pinterest stores. XDownload performs this lookup in any browser on iPhone, Android, Windows, and Mac — no app or account — and the same tool covers image pins plus 6 other platforms including X and Reddit. Two limits are structural rather than tool flaws: idea pins (the multi-page story format) may only partially resolve, and private or secret boards are invisible to logged-out visitors, so no downloader can fetch them.
Resolve any public post at xdownload.top — free, no app or account needed.
Pinterest is better known for images, but video pins — recipes, DIY steps, workouts, product clips — are everywhere on the platform, and none of them can be saved from the app itself. A browser-based resolve is the practical route. Here is how it works and where the edge cases live.
How pin video storage works
When a creator uploads a video pin, Pinterest transcodes it and hosts the result on its own media CDN. The pin page you see is a wrapper: title, description, board context, and a player. The underlying MP4 exists at a direct URL, and a logged-out browser can fetch it if it knows the address. A resolver's whole job is deriving that address from the public pin link.
Download steps
- Open the pin whose video you want.
- Use the share button and Copy link, or copy the URL from your browser's address bar — it should contain /pin/ followed by a numeric ID.
- Paste the link into xdownload.top.
- Resolve, then download the MP4. On iPhone, move it from Files to Photos with the share sheet; on Android and desktop it saves to Downloads.
What will and will not resolve
- Standard video pins: resolve normally — this is the main case.
- Idea pins: Pinterest's multi-page story format stores each card separately, and some cards are images rather than video. Expect partial results; save the cards that do resolve.
- Repins: a repin points at the same underlying media as the original, so either link works — but if the original was deleted, the repin usually dies too.
- Private/secret boards: never resolve. Pinterest does not serve them logged-out, which is a platform restriction, not a tool gap.
Quality expectations
You get the file Pinterest serves — the same one that plays in the app. If a pin looks soft, the upload itself was low-resolution; re-downloading through another tool will not improve it. For image pins where original resolution matters, see our Pinterest originals guide.
