Is XDownload free?

Yes. The core downloader is free. Advertising may be added later to fund hosting and maintenance.

Which links work?

Public status links such as https://x.com/user/status/123 or https://twitter.com/user/status/123. Tweet IDs alone may also work.

Can I download private posts?

No. Protected accounts and non-public posts are out of scope.

Why did a public post fail?

Common causes include deleted media, temporary upstream issues, posts without downloadable media, or temporary rate limits. See our guide: X video download not working.

Does this work on iPhone?

Yes. Use Safari or your preferred browser, open the media file, then Share → Save Video/Image. Full walkthrough: iPhone guide.

Do you store my downloads?

No permanent media library. Requests are processed to resolve media URLs. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Is downloading legal?

It depends on the content, your location, and how you use the file. Personal reference use is different from reuploading copyrighted material. Read Is it legal to download Twitter videos? and our Terms.

What is batch mode?

Enable batch mode on the homepage to resolve up to 5 public post links at once. Paste one URL per line.

Why use proxy download?

The proxy download button streams the media through XDownload with a proper filename. This often works better on mobile browsers than opening the raw CDN URL directly.

Where is history stored?

Recent items are saved in your browser’s localStorage only. Clearing site data or tapping Clear removes them. We do not sync history to an account.

What is ZIP download?

When a public post has multiple photos or videos, use Download ZIP to pack the best-quality files into one archive. ZIP is limited to a small number of files and reasonable total size to keep the free service stable.

Why do I see a Turnstile challenge?

Cloudflare Turnstile reduces automated abuse. Complete the check when shown, then submit your link. Local development can run without a secret configured.

Can I install XDownload like an app?

Yes. On supported mobile browsers you can use Install app / Add to Home Screen. The PWA caches the shell for offline opening, but resolving media still needs a network connection.
