Where Did My Downloaded X Video Go on iPhone?
Safari normally saves a downloaded MP4 to the Files app, not directly to Photos. The exact folder depends on your Safari download setting. Before retrying an X download, check where your iPhone stored the first file so you do not create duplicates.
Find the file Safari just downloaded
- Open Safari and tap the download arrow beside the address bar. If the arrow is hidden, open the page menu first.
- Tap Downloads, then tap the magnifying-glass icon beside the file to show its folder in Files.
- Alternatively, open Files → Browse → Downloads. Check both iCloud Drive and On My iPhone; the active destination depends on Settings → Apps → Safari → Downloads.
- Sort Downloads by date and look for the MP4 filename, not just a thumbnail. Use Files search if you renamed it.
Move an MP4 from Files to Photos
Open the actual MP4 in Files, tap Share, then choose Save Video. Open Photos → Recents to confirm it arrived. A file remaining in Files after download is normal; saving to Photos is a separate iOS action.
If Save Video does not appear
Check that the download is complete and the file plays in Files. A video mislabeled as another format, an incomplete download, or an unsupported codec may not offer Save Video. XDownload currently saves available video streams as MP4; it does not convert a video to an MP3 file. If the MP4 does not play, recopy the public post link and retry a different available video quality.
Also check free storage in Settings → General → iPhone Storage. If your file never appears in Safari Downloads, try disabling a content blocker for this site temporarily and retry once; repeatedly tapping Download can produce multiple copies.
