Instagram Reels Link Not Working? Check the URL and Post
When an Instagram Reels link fails in a downloader, first check whether the link points to a public Reel post. Profile pages, audio pages, Story links and short previews are different URL types. A web tool cannot bypass a private account, a login-only post or a removed video.
Copy the actual Reel link
- Open the Reel in the Instagram app or browser.
- Tap Share and choose Copy link, or open the Reel in a browser and copy the address bar URL.
- Look for
instagram.com/reel/POST_CODE/. For regular posts,instagram.com/p/POST_CODE/is also a supported URL shape. Paste only that URL, without surrounding chat text. - Try it in the Reels downloader.
Check visibility before retrying
Open the copied link in a private/incognito browser tab while logged out. If Instagram asks for access to a private account or says the post is unavailable, XDownload cannot retrieve it either. A link may also lead to a removed post, or to media restricted by the upstream source.
Separate link errors from download errors
An invalid link message means the URL format did not identify a post; recopy the full Reel URL. A no media result means the page resolved but no supported public video was available. If the video appears but saving fails, check storage space, browser downloads, and whether an aggressive blocker interferes. Wait a minute before retrying after repeated attempts; the service applies rate limits.
Instagram may change public media delivery without notice. This checklist explains likely causes; it cannot guarantee access to every public Reel. For carousels and still images, use the Instagram photo page; for video posts use the main Instagram tool.
